Reaching Out

If you look around, it's not hard to find someone who may need to be lifted up. When Jesus walked on earth that is exactly what He did. He healed the sick, opened the eyes of the blind, picked up the crippled and encouraged many with the words He spoke. Those words are still with us today. We can still be encouraged by His word and also encourage others. When someones else is going through a hard time and needs that lift, a shoulder or just a listening ear, I think we need to be ready to hear them out and help them through it. "Therefore encourage one another and build one another up."(just as we are doing?) It seems like people are often afraid to honestly share with others anymore what is really going on and how they really feel because it will be perceived by others as a pity party or afraid people might think they are just trying to get attention, when all they needed was a true friend who wouldn't make these judgements right away. I say this because my heart has been going out to a number of people out there who are going through things that we can not even imagine if we we haven't been there ourselves. God has allowed me to go through some grief as well over the years and in many ways I now consider it a priviledge. With God's help I got through it, and I  want to be there for others when they need help getting through things.  I still often feel helpless and don't really know what to do for people. I do know however that love and compassion are two very important things that Jesus has and we also need. All of our church meetings/services, event planning and money giving is nothing if not done in love. Sometimes we do need to step back and reconsider what it is we are making ourselves busy with and the motives behind it. This I say because there are many out there who need us and I for one don't want to forget that. Sometimes we just need to pray for them and other times we can go beyond that.

Whole Heartily

We finally have internet again, so I'm going to make an attempt to do more blogging. I'm really enjoying our new home. We were quite crowded in the other house and it makes things easier when you have the room to organize in a better way. I am still trying to decide what sort of things I would like to post about on this blog as a wife, mom, homemaker and a daughter of the King. I definately want it to inspire others in a positive way and also be a motivation to myself in the role God has placed me.
We have all heard the saying "home is where the heart is." Well, I believe also that our hearts should be where the home is. Does that make sense to you? What I mean by that anyway is that our homes are important and deserve our attention. The noun definition of home is the place where one lives permanently,  as a member of a family or household. To me that means our home is not just our house, it is our family. This is why our homes need love and attention!
There are so many things we often just see as chores. This is where God has begun to give me a different view. Sometimes we might feel like the things we do are pointless and unappreciated. We repeat the same "duties" and "chores" over and over and you haven't got anything to show for it. Sounds pretty borring when put that way, doesn't it? My goal is to change that way of thinking! Everything we do can be exciting, when we are first of all doing what God called us to do and then see everything as a way of serving and loving God. I don't feel excited about  all my work but I have come along way and my heart is here at home more than ever. There were trials God allowed in my life this year that brought me a long way with these things.
I will close for now, but hope I have visitors here from time to time and would love to see some comments!

And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,  knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for[ you serve the Lord Christ.

New Beginnings

I have always liked the feeling of new beginnings; a  fresh start in everyday life.  Often by the end of the day (especially when having a tough day) I look forward to a nights sleep and that fresh start in the morning. As written in Psalm 30 "Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning." God knows we need those new days and fresh starts.
By the end of every school year, I am ready for a good break and look forward to the last day, and at the same time I find myself already making plans for the next school year. When that new year begins, with new plans, new books, new ideas we have new motivation and ready to roll once more.
Sometimes something as simple as rearanging a room is motivation for me or a fresh coat of paint.. I could probably name hundreds of simple things like that. What are some of your renewing pleasures?
A new year is always good motivation and a lot of people make a bunch of resolutions, start reading their Bibles from the beginning again. (sometimes never making it to the end before starting again the next year :/ ) Anyway, I'm sure you know what I mean about new beginnings.
So, here I am first of all with my new blog  =D. We have an almost all the way new sweet little baby girl (my favourite part of this newness) We are moving to a new house. We are using a new school program this year, and I think I will go buy myself some new socks yet this week. Exciting stuff!

A daily reminder of what Jesus did for me,as life goes on and the new becomes old again:

2 Corinthians 5:17

" Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
